GIN RICKEY COCKTAIL RECIPE - A ZESTY REBEL
Share
The Joe Rickey strutted onto the scene in 1883, all bourbon and rye swagger, allegedly named after Colonel Joe Rickey himself. Someone somewhere along the way had the bright idea to swap the whiskey for gin and voilà, the Gin Rickey was born.
For that zesty lime kick, we tip our hat to Greytown Distilling Co’s Horopito & Lime Dry Martini Connoisseur Premium Gin - available to buy in 375ml and 750ml flasks (yep, you can snag ‘em online).
- 60ml gin
- 1 splash (6ml) sparkling water
- One-half lime shell (that’s a hollowed-out half-rind of lime)
- Squeeze the half-lime juice into a highball glass. Get every drop. Don’t be shy.
- Hollow out the half-lime and add the rind to the glass. It’s part decoration, part secret weapon.
- Add gin, sparkling water, ice and stir it like you mean it.
- Top it off with the rind from the other half of the lime. No waste. All taste.
Classic? Absolutely. Refreshing? You bet. A bit of Kiwi cheek? Well now, it’s tradition.
