THE LAST WORD COCKTAIL RECIPE - HERITAGE DOWN THE HATCH

The Last Word made its grand entrance in the 1910’s at the Detroit Athletic Club back when it was the swankiest sip on the menu at a princely 35¢. Word is, vaudeville monologist Frank Fogarty fancied it enough to smuggle the recipe up to New York, and the rest, as they say, is cocktail legend.

• 22.5ml gin
• 22.5ml green Chartreuse
• 22.5ml Luxardo Maraschino
• 22.5ml fresh lime juice

1. Shake it like it owes you money (in a cocktail shaker with plenty of ice).
2. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass, raise an eyebrow, enjoy the applause.
