THE RAMOS GIN FIZZ COCKTAIL RECIPE REMEDY
Share
The Ramos Gin Fizz (or New Orleans Fizz) made its grand debut in 1888, courtesy of Henry C. Ramos at his swanky Imperial Cabinet Saloon. Back then, patience was a virtue; this frothy masterpiece took a cool 12 minutes to whip up. But hey, good things take time, right?
Treat yourself to a little slice of cocktail history as you unpack an Orchard Grove Selection gin gift box. Inside you’ll find three 375ml flasks of invigorating premium gins to shake, stir or sip straight (Mānuka & Lemon, Pears of Paradise, Horopito & Lime Dry).
This southern-States classic is your taste ticket to some exciting escapades:
- 45ml GDC Horopito and Lime Dry gin
- 15ml fresh lime juice
- 15ml fresh lemon juice
- 30ml simple syrup (a 1:1 ratio of granulated sugar dissolved in an equal volume of water - easy, no need to reinvent the wheel)
- 60ml cream
- 1 egg white
- 3 dashes (2.76ml – 3.75ml) orange bitters
- 2 drops (0.1ml) vanilla extract
- Soda water (how fizzy is your call)
- Gently combine all ingredients (except the soda water) in a mixing glass.
- Dry-shake (yep, no ice – we’ll come back to it) for two minutes. Think of it as an upper-arm workout.
- Remember the ice? Add it now.
- Hard-shake for one minute. Feel the burn. Worth it.
- Strain into a Collins glass. That ice? Lose it.
- Crown with soda water, marvel and raise your glass to Henry.
