Expressions of interest on a GDC franchise are now open with our National Franchise launch, and more detail, from 21 April, 2025. You may have an apparel store, a deli or a high end homewares or gift store. Now imagine if you could supplement that and create a unique customer experience by offering your guests a gin tasting while they browse? On the other hand you may start a new greenfield operation in a unique part of New Zealand.
GDC’s tasting shed in Greytown is a destination. It’s a source of fun. It creates excellent conversations and interactive experiences. And it is a sales powerhouse.
We’ve road-tested this concept by setting up the very first GDC Tasting Shed inside the popular Blackwell and Sons emporium in Greytown. On a footprint of less than four square metres, we generated a significant number of sales in our first year. We even exceeded our own ambitious expectations. Having that facility inside Blackwell and Sons created a new reason to pop in for a tasting and a purchase, exposing the guest to the rest of the store.

Suitable for high end retail
It’s a premium offer for premium stores but it’s versatile enough to work with men’s or women’s apparel, a gourmet delicatessen or food offer, or high end homewares, furniture or gifts.

Liquor licence required
Franchisees will be required to obtain a liquor licence and undergo duty manager training to ensure compliance with liquor trading laws. We will help you understand the process and what’s involved.

We’ll build it for you
We will build a modular unit using our existing design that creates strong visual impact. We have a number of size options. We’ll install almost everything and provide you with a ‘turn key’ business including initial stock, merchandising, POP and POS facilities. Your training will be based on your experience and knowledge but you can expect comprehensive and detailed training to ensure you get the best chance of succeeding. Anticipate the best part of a week . In that time you will cover a number of areas including (but not limited to) technical aspects of the gin production process; customer service; marketing/advertising; employing staff and you’ll also learn how to succeed in your own business. As the Franchisor, our success is dependent on your success. Our franchise manager has set up more than 200 franchisees in various industries.
